About Us

We are Daemen University's chapter of the National Biological Honor Society, a collegiate honors society for biological sciences. Our chapter, founded in 1964, Tri-Beta has been creating support, networking, honors, and more for nearly 60 years.

Why Tri-Beta?

Tri-Beta members are eligible for a variety of benefits, including scholarships and fellowships available only to Tri-Beta members.

Members also have the chance to publish in the BIOS Journal, increasing the chance of undergraduate research being published.

Being a part of Tri-Beta also looks great on resumes and active members get cords at graduation.

Membership

Anyone in a natural science or health science major is eligible to join Tri-Beta. Membership is done on an induction basis. Inductions are typically done in the spring, though associate member inductions may be done in the fall. There are two levels of membership, full and associate. A full-time member is rewarded with all the benefits and capabilities of regular members, including running for office. Associate membership is seen as a way for those who haven't yet been able to take upper-division science courses to share their interest with the honors society.

Fees

Upon induction as a full member, there is a one-time fee that guarantees a lifetime membership of $55.

Associate members pay $45 upon induction and pay the remaining balance upon promotion to full.

Requirments

Completed at least 3 semesters with 3 courses in the biological sciences. One of these courses needs to be upper division.

GPA of 3.0 or higher with an average grade of B or higher in all biology courses.
